Our handwoven Bologna loafer is from our specialist factory in Spain. Fine strips of hand finished calf leather are woven to form a beautiful herringbone pattern, which is further enhanced by the subtle variation in the depth of colour of the individual strips. The pattern is wholecut, which maintains uniformity across the weave, and we’ve added an ‘aircord’ apron (rather than an actual seam). A piece of cord is sewn underneath before lasting – the heat then shrinks the leather over the cord forming a smooth raised seam. The upper has a smooth calf leather saddle, a neatly piped topline and is fully lined in calf leather. The Bologna construction replaces the traditional insole board with a leather 'sock' giving greater flexibility and comfort and is Blake stitched to a leather sole with a rubber forepart.
