Handcrafted in London, a limited-edition collection by renowned Japanese ceramicist Akiko Hirai. Akiko Small Round French Style Plates. She forms each plate by hand. During firing, serendipitous blemishes occur, giving each piece its own distinct texture and life. Her distinctive works emerge from a rare balance of masterful craft and the unpredictable reaction of minerals and elements within the kiln. Pieces are finished with a glaze that both veils and reveals the textures of the material beneath, for a complex finish. Each piece is individually finished, carrying subtle variations in tone and texture.
